Any particular reason the monitor has to have the speakers? You're severely restricting your choice.
Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.

/agree you can get perfectly good speakers that are much better than anything built into a monitor for £20 odd (Logitech do some good ones)

Would you not consider getting monitor that has both a good quality picture and is good value and add separate speakers (with an easy access headphone socket)? if sound must be built in you'll probably end up with both lower quality sound AND either paying over the odds or compromising the picture quality (or all three).

do you have a budget in mind?

This is a 24" monitor with speakers and headphone socket. It costs around £200. Its reviewed here - http://www.prad.de/en/monitore/review/2009/review-iiyama-prolite-b2409hds-part13.html#Conclusion
