gas cost question

A friend has asked me how to read her gas meter and keep an eye on the bill. I don't have mains gas so I dont know how much gas costs. Can somebody give me a rough idea of what 50 or 100 units costs so she will have an idea?

  • You have not given enough details to answer your question. First, you will need to convert the meter units into BTU's - this depends on whether the meter is in cubic meters or cubic feet. Then you will need to find out who the gas supplier is as they all have different rates and what tariff your friend is on.

I will pass this on thanks :) - She needs to be able to see what she is using day by day so that she can cut down on bills .

(This is approximate but: ) 3 units on a metric meter costs a bit less than a £1. 1 unit on an imperial meter costs about £1. BUT in addition you have a monthly charge of £3 to £12 depending on tariff.
