Working away for 6 months and renting

Not sure where the best section is for this, but will try here.
I've just got a new short term 6 month contract, and I will be working away from home Monday - Friday (staying at least 4 nights a week)
I am considering renting a place instead of B&B as I'd prefer the comforts of my own place. However, I appreciate this will be subject to the usual household expenses including council tax. My main property will still be used (wife staying) and I will more than likely be home at weekends.
Is there any benefits I can claim for i.e. council tax reductions on each/one property? Please note this is through choice, i.e. I applied for the role knowing full well where it was and stopping over had always been my intention.
Anything else anyone could advise?

have no idea about renting & benefits side of things but a campervan or caravan sounds ideal if there is a campsite near to work?0

There would be no reduction in council tax. Why not look for a Monday-Friday houseshare/lodger place, better than a B&B.
Google monday to friday houseshare, or try this site: http://www.mondaytofriday.com/0 -
I've actually thought of that - I've wanted an old VW campervan for a long time and thought of buying one and living in it!christine_chris_chrissy wrote: »have no idea about renting & benefits side of things but a campervan or caravan sounds ideal if there is a campsite near to work?

Slight change of plan anyway, as I can now work from home Friday's so renting is out of the equation now. But houseshare is still an option.
Thanks again0 -

You wont be able to get any reductions for your main house regarding council tax as it is your main residence ie all your mail will go there, personal property there.
You could try for a 2nd home discount - that could get you from 10% to 50% depending on the council
edit
Just thought 2nd home may not apply as may be owners only and not tenants - but you can try“You’re only here for a short visit.

Thanks for the advice.
Had a change in circumstances yesterday which now means I'll only need to live away 3 days a week, so going to go with a long term B&B. its only 6 months afterall.
