forest holidays cornwall-help please

I've got a 4 night break booked with my hubbie and 2 girls;2 and 5 in march.Has anyone been before who can answer:
can we take our own logs etc for fire, or do we need to buy theirs?
Can we use the hot tubs any time-thinking they takeages to heat so cn they be left on?
Any ideas of (cheap)days out from there?

Hello! I have never been there, but have been to plenty of lodges with Hot Tubs - so can answer that question!

You will be able to use your hot tub whenever you like - they are left permanently on and are set at a constant temperature. When not in use you cover them with a lid which keeps the heat in! They are great - especially sitting in them late at night under the stars!

Looe and Polperro are good for a day out - the Monkey Sanctuary is also great! http://www.monkeysanctuary.org/

We have been there before but didn't have a wood burning fire, nor a hot tub - so sorry I can't help there.

However, we did have a lovely time, and hope you do too

Hi Beth25!

Me and my boyfriend have stayed in the silverbirch cabin at deerpark twice and we absulutely love it there and can't wait to return. You can take your own logs for the fire, and the hot tub is on constantly on so you can hop in any time you like!! The hot tub is amazing we were in it all the time!

There is a 'forest retreat' onsite at Deerpark which has educational and hands on stuff for children. I would recommend taking a large bag of bird seed as there are loads of ducks, geese and small birds on the mill pond and we really enjoyed feeding them as they would come up close to the cabin. You might want to take some DVD's as there is a DVD player in the cabin.

For cheap days out there are many beaches nearby for example Looe bay. We really enjoyed the monkey sanctuary near Looe, it was pricey but the ticket is valid for a year. Not sure of other days suitable for your children, but there is loads to do in Cornwall and I'm sure staff at Deer Park will advise you of places.

the coast road to Mt Edgcumbe is a great drive & Mt Edgcumbe itself is brilliant for some fun walks (depending if your children like that sort of thing) through woods & along the beach. http://www.mountedgcumbe.gov.uk/ you can stop off at Cawsand or Seaton both have lovely beaches (with no cliffs to get to them). The cafe at Seaton looks very rough & ready but does lovely chips & hot chocolate, last time we visited (no longer live in the area but family still does) they had outside area with a lovely open fire to keep you warm.
