Billpay suites me as I get an "instant" email to say it has been done.
You used to be able to "pop into" the Bank of England and pay directly into HMRC's account. Anyone know if the new clearing bank accounts will work as effectively as that?0 -
From the Sort Code/Account No. for my tax payment, it seems that HMRC are now using CITIBANK instead of the Bank of England !
...or perhaps 'as well as', because somebody has to do the clearing.".....where it is corrupt, purge it....."0 -
Citibank and Royal Bank of Scotland (from several months ago) :-

But not, apparently, accepting Faster Payments ......... which was the primary rationale for the change (on their website) a year ago.If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
Just to advise. The last statement run before 31 January of any year is in December. Any tax returns submitted after the end of November will not receive a statement detailing the amount to pay before the deadline. As ALL tax returns sublitted after 31 October should be submitted online, the system gives you the calculation, tells you how much to pay, and you have the ability to check your statement online. Hence why they don't issue the statements.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

I'm not sure about the online statements but if you've received a statement in the post, look in the bottom left hand corner of the payslip, it does state either Shipley or Cumbernauld (We had one of each).0
