My husband and i seperated 2 years ago but continued to live in the same house due to financial reasons. We have seperate finances and pay half to the mortgage and all bills, as i have a son from a previous relationship i am able to claim Working and Child tax credits of about £270 per month.
My situation has now changed and i have met someone and he has asked me to move in with him and if i do i will be contributing to the bills at his house and paying half the mortgage at the house i shared with my ex.
My son will financially still be my responsibility so will i still be entitled to the working and child tax credits?
Any info would really be appreciated.
Thanks xx

You will then need to start a joint claim with your new partner and his income will be taken into account. You will still get child tax credits but depending on his and your income combined will be whether you still qualify for working tax credits0

Why would you still be paying half the mortgage to your ex husband and moving in with a new partner? My husband and i seperated 2 years ago but continued to live in the same house due to financial reasons. Karenx - Thanks but my new partner and i will still have seperate finances i aim to pay him aprox half to the bills, i was under the impression that we would only make a joint claim if he was financially responsible for my son.
DX2 - Im still going to pay half as when the house is sold i will have my fair half share of the house.Sue0 -

Seperate finances or not, you are a couple and living together therefor you cannot have a tax credits claim for a single person. His income IS taken into account. If your income together totals more than 17k a year then you will not get WTC0
