It sounds like they have been a bit economical with the truth and they have put you in a Credit HireVehicle.

The esscence of a Credit Hire vehicle is you take out a credit agreement on the hire costs (Which are considerably higher than normal hire costs) for 51 weeks. If the CH company cannot recover their outlay in this time you are responsible for the costs which are often thousands. There are exceptions as some CH companies offer an insurance policy for an extra cost whereby you are not liable.

They should have explained it to you properly though so you understand it.

If you are on a CH the excess probably is £500 though
  • i did question it with them as origanlly they said the other partys insurance had agreed to cover the extra cost, but when i phoned them to check they had not had any contact from enterprise.

on telling the chap at enterprise this he said , oh actually we have a department that deals with this sort of thing and take a chance on the other party admitting liability.

when i asked what haoppens if he doesnt the chap said that enterprise stump up the extra cost not me??

It's possible they do not pursue you, however there are plenty of people who have fallen foul of this eg they were told don't worry we won't come after you and then they do. As with anything along these lines it would be best to ask them to confirm this in writing especially as you mentioned the other party is disputing liability now.

What make and model of car have enterprise put you in?
