My grandad and just been told he has Blood Cancer. I don't want my grandma worrying about money so, was hoping for some advice.
They are married and own their own home. My grandma recieves a pension and my grandad pension credit.
My grandad is currently in hospital starting chemo. What help are they both entitled to?
Any help much appreciated.

He might get attendance allowance - i'm assuming they're over 65?
How is he travelling back and forth to hospital? They should get travelling expenses. My mum goes by car and she gets it.
Have you tried contacting Macmillan. They're very good. A nurse came to my mum's house and explained what help she could get. http://www.macmillan.org.uk/Home.aspx?utm_campaign=Brand+|+Brand+Terms&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=Google&utm_term=macmillan&gclid=CMX5qIuGsJ8CFVtn4wodhHPT0w0 -

they are under 65. Grandad is 62 and grandma 61. He has only just been diagnosed. He went in hospital Friday and started treatment monday. My grandma hasn't asked the 'question' relating to what his chances are. From my reading, it cannot be cured, only managed by drugs to make his blood do what it should.I get what i want. He could get DLA if he's under 65. AA is only for those over 65.
Are they already getting help with their Council Tax? If not, they should apply for this too.
I really recommend Macmillan. They're brilliant, and a huge help.0 -

Do you know what kind of cancer it is? (I have a form of Leukaemia).
Some blood cancers are very treatable these days, there have been some really positive advances so try to stay optimistic.0 -
