Hi we have found a possible reception/party venue not meal just evening party. But they have a newish wooden floor and one of the conditions is no stilletoes. Anyone had experience of this too ? Bit difficult for girls !!
We got married 17th April 2010 !! A wonderful day with my wonderful husband !! :T

I know they are only trying to preserve the new floor but it's slightly ridiculous. Dont know how they expect to hire the place out for parties
You can hardly send out invits with 'girls in flats only please' on them lol 0 -

Not that all guests would take notice of it either! What would they do then? Make them take their shoes off at the door or fine you for each stilleto mark?0 -
There's a very old National Trust property here that is a venue for wedding receptions and they insist on no stilletoes and no dark colured drink to minimise damage to floors and furnishings which need to be preserved.
My friend attended a wedding at it and it was clearly printed on the invite about the heels & drinks. Everyone abided by it and there was no issue...although some of the girls wore their heels outside for photos and then changed into pumps before going inside.0 -
This was the case at a listed venue we looked at, along with another long list of do's and don'ts, (no music after 11pm, only use their recommended catering companies etc etc) it clearly said that you were responsible for ensuring it was enforced - we felt it was just too stressful, I understand their need to preserve things, but I didn't want to spend half the day looking to see what footwear people had on!
I do think it is just stilletos though, would they allow thicker heels?"Normal is not something to aspire to - it is something to get away from" - Jodie Foster0 -
wouldn't they get on better if they had some sort of carpet that they could roll out to protect the floors if they are that worried? They must be turning away a lot of business!0

you get lots of cheap flipflops in various sizes and put them in a cute basket so that ladies who want to dance can dance in them. lots of places request this if its an old beautiful floor they need to look after.0

Its not unheard of in certain historical buildings. But the rule is no 'Stilletoes' not no high heels. So guests could wear heels, just not the tiny points!!:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0
