I had a landline account with Tiscali which I terminated in Jan 2007. Tiscali continued to take money from my account until I put a stop to it. Then to rub salt in the wound had the temerity to chase me for line rental after I'd finished with them. After many frustrating phone calls they recognised that the error was their's and an amount was credited to my account to cancel this debt. All was well, or so I thought. This Saturday Jan 16th 2010 I received a letter from a debt collection agency saying that I have an outstanding debt with Talk Talk!
Talk talk had taken over Tiscali and the phantom debt has risen from the grave. More frustrating (and expensive) phone calls later I was told that the matter would be investigated by their back office and this will take at least 20 working days... and get this I HAVE TO CALL THEM TO FIND OUT WHAT THE OUTCOME IS!!! I suspect I may not be the only person out there experiencing these problems.

Talk Talk is a wonderfully cheap company.
Never deal with such things on the telephone (you have no proof of who said what to whom) but, if you do, ask that they put the details of what has been agreed in writing (they never will so you're back to writing to them anyway).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Never fear, I work in the advice sector and know my rights. Everything is in writing and a formal complaint was issued. However, it irks me that phone companies have three months to respond to a complaint before it can go the Telecommunications Ombudsman. I am prepared to go to court, if that is what it takes, rather than cave in to bullying tactics. :mad:0
