Chester Zoo membership?

Hi, I'm considering buying Chester zoo membership for 2 adults so we can hopefully take our son regularly. We don't have to pay for him at the moment as he's just turning 1 but I was wondering if anyone else had done this and if it worked out value for money for you. Perhaps I should leave it until he's older too?

    Hi,
It depends on where you live and how often you think you may go.We had membership when my son was six months old for a few years and we lived in Northwich, Cheshire. We use to go every few weeks, the gardens are lovely in summer and we use to treat it as a nice park to walk round. Also because we use to go regularly didn't feel that we had to spend a whole day there but a few hours was great before my son got fed up.Also nice traffic free place to let him have a toddle, good baby changing etc.Its also great to watch the baby animals grow.Somewhere to go in the winter months as well. Its a great idea but my son is now 14 and is not into zoos anymore, shame for us parents.

If you go more than twice in the year then it's worth it. We are members and I tend to nip along after school with the kids for the odd hour here and there plus the weekend trips. We have probably been a dozen times in the last year which makes it worth while. Plus you get 20% discount (I think) in all of the food places and shops.
They say that football is a religion, if this is true I worship at the Exacta Stadium, Chester
  • If you live near enough to visit reasonably often is a good value. Don't know if you still can but used to have an arrangement with other zoos where you could use your Chester Zoo membership for entry. We visited Bristol, Twycross and Woburn Safari Park using ours which made it worth having. Think you also get 20% of food and gifts there too

We are members of our locals zoo (Colchester) gold card scheme. With this we get access to our zoo as well as Living coasts, chester, edinburgh, twycross. marwell and paignton zoo so is well worth considering if you visit other areas. We are 2 adults (no children) and it works out such a money saver if you go more than twice a year.

Thanks everyone, I think I will give it a go especially if we can visit other zoo's too. We live about 40 mins drive away from Chester zoo so not too great a distance to visit quite often.
