I agree with what you're saying, bus journeys always seem to take three times as long as a car journey!

The only bus that comes down our way is the school bus!

Plus, if the bus service did run you'd have to get a bus into Folkestone (8 miles in wrong direction) and then a bus to Ashford (16 miles in other direction) and no doubt a taxi from the bus station in Ashford to the hospital, probbaly another 2 or 3 miles. Plus you'd need a second mortgage to afford all the fares...

I dont know how Blair and his cronies expect everyone to be able to ditch their cars if they dont provide an alternative...  >:(

I just pop in now and then.... :)

Sounds like the new Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
Built 5 miles South of the city centre with a few buses serving it but the only full A&E dept. for the whole of Edinburgh and environs. If you wanted to visit a patient from say the North side of the city you'd have to get a bus to city centre then another out to hospital and back. Take an hour to an hour and a half.
By car you could go via the bypass in 20 minutes. But of course you then get charged through the nose for parking, which I believe staff also have to pay for.
And public transport does not run at all the hours which NHS staff need them to.

The hospital my wife works at also has a big parking problem, when I drop her off at night there are cars everywhere despite there being big car parks for staff and a big one for visitors. Unfortunately in this case the staff are the worst offenders, parking right outside the main entrance for instance on double yellows, which are not enforced, because they don't want to walk the short distance to the car parks.
You can't clamp or tow on private land in Scotland but you can enforce civil penalties for parking in the wrong place which they don't seem to want to do. Stupid.
