Help needed to find my watch

Im not sure which board to post this on so will try here first. My parents bought me a Sovereign 9ct gold watch with a mother of pearl face and a diamond at the 12 for my 21st. Last week I went to pick my Grandma up from the airport and on the way back to the car realised I didnt have my watch on. (Definately had it on way as I checked time whilst driving). Anyway checked the car and have done 3times since and retraced my steps to the airport and asked at all shops and information but nothing has been handed in. They have kept my details at the airport incase it gets handed in but still not heard anything. I am absolutely devastated, this can never be replaced and I no not everyone is kind hearted and hands things in but it was personalised with my name on and whoever has found this will see it was a gift for my 21st. I am considering claiming on my house insurance, I no nothing will replace "my watch" but if I can find another one the same it will be the best I can do. I still have the box for my watch but my parents dont have the receipt and my mum can not for the life of her remember which jewellers they purchased it from. She said they looked around that many jewellers at the time to find one they liked. She thought it may have been H samuels but they said they only do accurist in 9ct gold but it was definately Sovereign.

My question to you all is will I be able to claim if we dont have receipt? and do you know if there is anywhere where I can view past and present watches online made by sovereign to see if I can find the watch number?

Did you put on/take off clothing in the car? I know it's obvious but have you checked beneath the seats?

If not, then you'll probably have to call the insurance company to see what the claims procedure would be. I hope you get it back.

Firstly, sorry, thats hard luck.Why is it special things get lost never the stuff we dont care about?
I lost a special gold albert bracelet once and dint have a receipt.
The insurance company asked for some proof of my ever owning it and were satisfied with somephotos in which it could be seen.
I had to describe it o a jeweller who then gave a valuation.I'm quite fond of the replacement now actually!

Ive definately got pics of me wearing it from my birthday and when I had my daughter. Just checked wedding album and didtn wear it that day. Didnt remove any clothing and yes I have looked right down between seats. Will phone insurance company tomorrow and see what they say.

I was forwarded something like this to do with a found camera. The camera owners were found!

Sorry to hear of your bad luck. Have you reported it to the police in case it turns up in a second hand shop somewhere?

This site lists some Sovereign watches as sold by H. Samuel but when you click through to Samuels website there is no mention of them. Perhaps they used to stock them but no longer do so?

F. Hinds have some and there are also some here, though much more expensive.

Have you tried contacting the airport Police, if they have their own force? I know Gatwick has it's own Police, not sure about other airports. Also the info desk, all the individual shops etc, cleaning dept etc. Not sure how much each department/store would communicate with each other, a shop assistant for example might have just put it under the counter and forgotten to mention it to anyone outside the shop. I'm sure they have procedures, but since it's so special it might be worth a try. Are you local enough to the airport to go back and speak to absolutely everyone (or at least every department!) Does the airport have it's own security? Car park attendants etc? If it was found outside then staff inside might not have been notified.

Also, local Police as it might have been handed in outside the airport if that's where it was found.

Did your Mum pay for it with a credit card - I have shown the price of a coat for insurance by locating a credit card charge, and they were happy with that. My friends think I am mad keeping my old credit card bills for so long - but it was a VERY expensive coat, so well worth it methinks!

kym- the second one you posted from f hinds ending 985 is very similar the bracelet is exactly the same but the face didnt have any markings for the numbers it was plain completely apart from the diamond at the 12.
