  • I did disconnect the USB cables, check the CD Drives - did all that with DELL when I first called them, before they ran any tests...
Sounds like PC World aren't popular then?
Tried looking on here last night for related threads, but the forum was having technical difficulties - or was I just unlucky enough to have problems with my lap top at the same time?
All my important stuff is on my laptop - the computer is my sons, all his stuff is backed up on disc..
Suppose I'll just have to wait and see and learn my lesson the hard way!

Not really a matter of 'popularity', just the general view in this forum that many excursions people have made to have computer items 'repaired' by PC World have ended in tears...
  • The OP did the right thing by getting PC World to fix the problem. As the retailer, it's their job to do so.

That doesn't make my general statement above invalid in any way!

Firstly enter the BIOS set up and on the settings for boot order make sure that you have dvd drive as 1st boot device then the Hard Disk as 2nd boot device, then save and exit.

To enter BIOS, as PC boots you will you will see options at the bottom of screen more or less as soon as you power on, press the key that corresponds to set up (or something similar depending on which machine you have)
It said on the box requires Windows 7 or better, so I bought a MAC
