In requesting this money back shall I include my bank details in the letter I send? To hasten the process?

No. PAYE repayments are made by cheque. (they may change by linking their new PAYE system to BACS ..... but I don't think that's imminent)

Ok thanks. Writen my letter now, will include the P45 and P60 with it and post it off tomorrow. Job done!
    Thanks again folks :)
  • The letter should be sent to a local HRMC office or to the one mentioned in p45? Thanks

If the P45 is very recent ..... then to that one. Otherwise to the one you're dealing with currently.

  • I used to work just in summer and had no contacts with any office, except the only one interview 2 years ago before getting a NI number. Therefore, I will send it to the one mentioned in p45 along with p50 as in HRMC web page they ask to do so... Thank you once again.

I have done, and sent it recorded delivery :)
Hope it gets dealt with fairly promptly! Could use this money!
  • I am sure that your claim for a refund will get processed eventually, but this is HMRC's busiest time of year so you should expect a long wait.

  • Hi , theres a few posters who seem to know a lot about claiming tax refunds.

My hubby lost his job in september . In mid december we sent away form p50 and the relevant parts of his p45.

As yet we have heard absolutely nothing!! Should HMRC not contact us to say they received it ?

How long does it normally take to receive any refund due?

    thanks
