Best E Mail for Virgin Media

Hi, can anyone advise, I've always used Thunderbird and my Virgin Media address, now I can't get the two to work together. I've just been on the phone for an hour to Virgin. They say they don't support Thunderbird. I've tried using Virgin's own site which I don't like but now I only get the heading on the screen no drop down.Is there a provider that's compatible with Virgin?

just get a gmail account, you can set that up with thunderbird and not have to worry if you switch providers that you will lose the account

Thunderbird will work with Virgin, just make sure the servers and passwords are correct.

You basically only need the names of Virgin's pop3 and smtp servers. Virgin not supporting Thunderbird simply means they are going to help you set up that software. It does not mean (as you know) Thunderbird will not work with Virgin.

There was a thread about VM changing their settings due to them going over to the new mail system.
Apparently the help page has not yet been updated.

Also the only time my VM address is used is when they send my bill, rest of the time I use Googlemail with Thunderbird.

Thanks, I've changed some of the settings as recommended, but can't see where to change the pop server.
