Household Income?

Hi,

A few years ago I had some money problems and defaulted on a couple of things and over the last short while I've been rebuilding my credit status, managed to get accepted for mobile phones, small loan arrangements recently so it's going well, was about to fill in an application for a Vanquis card, shocking interest but not for spending so it should be OK.

On the app it asks for the household income, but my work is not a set number of hours, should I take the last years income, an average month, can they check this or is it just to give an idea of your affluence?

Matt.

I am in a similar situation (with the variable income, not the historical money problems). I just give a rough estimate on these things, last year's income is fine. They're not gonna check or expect you to prove it.

Though worth remembering that application details can be recorded on N Hunter (http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1965153) so inventing inconsistent numbers isn't advisable.

So long as you've a basis for your estimate that you can justify then you're giving a "reasonable" figure.

They can check, so would use a reasonable estimate.
An example could be the amount on recent pay slips or P60 :)
