Just a quick one IS and MA

Can you claim IS at same time as getting MA.

    No you cant, you can claim IS once MA has finished if you are not intending on going back to work

    How much would your MA be - the standard rate or less?

    Unless you have disability premiums, it is likely that MA would be more than IS.
    Gone ... or have I?

    hi no disability premium i get £108 a week MA
    just did the benifit check and it said i should claim but i did not think i would be able to.

    you can claim IS and MA if your MA is less than the applicable amount for income support and you meet the other qualifying criteria. The MA would be deducted from from the income support applicable amount and you would be paid what's left.

    As dmg24 said unless you reecive disability living allowance or are a carer, the maximum income support you receive as a lone parent will be £64.30 a week minus any award of MA.

    sorry you wouldn't be entitled. Are you claiming housing or council tax benefit? Have you had your baby yet, if so have you claimed child benefit tax credits or maternity grant?
