Bankruptcy and Tax Credits - help needed

I am a bit confused as to what to put on TC claim form.
My husband had his own business until August 2009 when he was declared bankrupt. No accounts have been prepared for the year to 5th April 2009 or indeed up to date of bankruptcy. I have spoken to the Trustees who are dealing with the bankruptcy and they have told me that there would be no profit for this year even though they have not asked for books and records as they say they won't be preparing accounts. The form asks what his income was for the year ended 5th April 2009. Can I fill this in as nil and put in an additional note reference bankruptcy?

might be worth you posting this question on the bankrupcy forum.0

you can put it in as nil, there should be a box further on the form that asks if the amount is estimated and you can then tick this box - it lets hmrc know you don't have exact figures.0

Thanks woodbine and leemack for your replies. I posted on the BR forum as well and have been told that any profits belong to the Trustees. So i guess I just fill in the box as NIL and put in a note of explanation. Thanks again for your help.0
