For the past 3 days whenever I call my pup for walk time, as I get to the door / put my coat on / grab lead etc she runs with me then squats and wees a huge puddle just before we go out!!!
Why would she do this?? How can I stop it??
She's 95% housetrained apart form this strange behaviour

Hi,
It sounds to me like she is getting over excited about going for a walk. If possible try not to get her excited about the walk & just quitely put your coat on & get the lead & don't make a fuss. Easier said than done I know, hopefully she will grow out of it soon. Edited to add if she does have an accident don't make a thing about it just clean it up without a fuss.Married the man of my dreams - 10th September 2012, St Paul's Bay Lindos :jIt was amazing.0 -
Mmmm I did wonder - she always used to dribble when excited but now this is a squat & deliberate 'wee'.
She's been dreadfull for weeing indoors this week with the bad weather anyway.....if is windy, cold, raining she'd rather just do it on the floor Ggggrrrrrrr!!!0 -
Take her out into the garden for a wee before you go for a walk.
Same too if she doesn't want to go out because of the weather. Take her out so that she doesn't have to wee on the floor.A dog with a behaviour problem needs help not punishment.0 -
May be you need to take her outside in the garden very regularly and go over the top with praise once she wees or poos. Sounds to me like she is "holding" herself for the walk and then cant hold it any longer (bit like me when I get the key in the door when I get home from a long shop)0

How old is your pup? Has she had her first season? What breed is she? Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

Hi she's a 5 month old jack Russell. No, not had her 1st season yet - planning on spaying her next month0

I agree with the others about taking her into the garden before her walk. Even if you have stand in the garden for a while until she does it. Have you a photo? I love Jack Russells.0

Excitement/expecting to have wee on walk but can't wait.
Try - sitting in armchair wearing coat. Putting pup out in garden for wee whilst wearing coat. Waiting until you see her squat before calling her in. Letting her come back and mooch around whilst you sit back down in chair again.
When she is distracted, get up and go to door.
Not telling dog until you are at the door (yes, I know that's easier said than done, but she might be young enough to fall for it)I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Oh, shes only a baby - just get back to the going outside every hour until she performs0

Expect her to have her 1st season soon then. Most !!!!!es will start inappropriate weeing in the house before they come into season. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0
