When did BT start treating Bank Holidays like normal workdays?

I just got my BT bill.

They have charged me for calls made on Christmas Day and the Bank Holiday as if they were normal working days. I'm on the "unlimited" evening and weekend package.

I always understood that calls made to UK landlines on Christmas Day were free and that Bank Holidays were treated as weekends. They (BT) say that this was never the case but won't confirm it in writing.

So,
1. Have I gone mad?
2. If I've not gone mad, when did they make the change?

I questioned this with BT over twenty years ago and got the same answer then as you have just got now.

So, yes you have gone mad:p

  • I don't remember a time when these were free and I'm in my 30s..... I don't see why BT should give calls away for nothing.

Now, when we lived in one part of Hertfordshire I was amazed to find taxis charge double after 23:00 any day.. maybe I'm naiive and that's normal :)
