Royally Shafted by MBNA / Liverpool FC Credit Card

I took out the above card to pay for my Livepool FC Season Ticket on a 0% offer.

From Day one I was aware that this offer ended with the 11th December Statement.

So, like a good boy, I paid the full balance - in excess of £500 - before the due date. They also took the minimum £25 payment I had set up by DD!!

They then charged me £5.86 Interest!!:mad:

Why would they do this I hear you ask!!

Well apparently they invented a rule that the 0% Interest finished on the 11th December and interest began to accrue.

I was meant to receive my statement, pay the balance, before I knew what it was and make sure it arrived with them for the 11th.

Downright Blatant Theft.

I am in the process of speaking to MBNA, LFC, Yourselves, Watchdog and the Queen of Sheba to get my money back!!!

    Hi murphz1

I'm not quite sure how you have been shafted here?

The 0% offer ended on 11th December, therefore you must clear your balance by that date to prevent interest accruing.

You can obtain your current balance at any time online or over the phone. If the only balance on the card was the 0% purchase (the season ticket) then the balance would have been as per the previous statement.

Feel free to correct me if I have missed something here.

    Regards

Yes Liverpool FC have a lot to answer for. Glad your MBNA credit card isnt causing any problems.

I feel 'shafted' because there was never any mention of 'Interest due next month' or the like.

I received my statement and paid it in Full, as I always do if not Interest Free.

The o% ended with the 11th December statement as far as I was concerened - not on the 11th December.

I have asked will I be charged on this months balance (new spend) and the answer is of course 'NO' if I pay it off in full - which I will.

You've obviously got to employ specialist advice to stay on the right side of this blatant deceit

    Good little money spinner.

Barclaycard made 11p out of me in a similar fashion (no Liverpool FC involved on this occasion).

I disagree. The offer you had was interest free "until your December statement" your december statement was produced on the 11th - you then were charged interest until you cleared your balance.

If you look at your november statement, it will clearly state "Estimated Interest next month £x.xx. You chose to make the minimum payment and were charged interest.
No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.
