There seems to be a misconception on these forums by some posters that you need to be living on the breadline to use them.

thank you to those who posted advice - that is the reason I posted in the first place. I managed to speak to my bank and barclays who, luckily enough are able to reclaim 6 months worth of the DD

I travel a lot with my job, therefore i wasn't able to check my statements thoroughly - my credit cards come straight out my bank account. have set up internet banking though now and am able to keep tabs of whats going on.

Why not, you have had 12 different bags on your shoulder for that year ?
If you bought 12 new ones, then sold them on the cost would probably be higher than £299.88
