Parents claiming Housing & Council Tax Benefit

            All,
I'd just like to thank you all for finding the time to provide me with the answers I needed to hear. With the useful info, I'll now see what options are available for my parents in terms of housing.
Thanks again0 -
I think the only option is for you to sell the house and possibly use some of that funds to help them pay a deposit and first months rent on another house and they can then apply for housing benefit as they will have a proper tenancy agreement. And if the rent is more than what the LHA rate is you could maybe help them out to top up the rent.
Then you dont have 2 mortgages etc to pay and they have a house still0 -
If they have small pensions, have they considered claiming pension credit, which might enable them to actually pay you some rent which might ease your financial problems somewhat. They would still not be able to claim Housing benefit, however, until it has been going for some time.0

I appreciate all the help being given, would it be easier just to take them to the Citizen Advice Bureau and see what advice/options they have or are there any others ways so I can get things moving forwards please ?0

CAB would be a good idea re Benefits (ask to speak to a Benenfits Advisor), - although they might not be eligible for help with the rent they might be eligible for other things which will enable them to be able to pay you some rent.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0
