Closing card before applying for new 0% card

Hi, I have an old card from a previous 0% balance transfer. However, I never actually closed it down. I don't need this card or the credit.

Now, I need to apply for another 0% offer with another card. Would my application for this new card be affected by the spare dormant credit on this old card. Obviously I'm wondering if I should close the card before applying for the new one.

if you don't need the credit why would you want to apply for another one?

You said it yourself "you don't need the credit" so why do you ask???

    TARTING!

I need to move debt to a 0% card. I have lots of unused credit on other cards.

So, the question is: will this existing card which has unused credit (at 17% APR) on it impair my application for a new card (at 0%)?

if you have several unused CC which shows a lot of available credit then YES I would suggest that you close the card/s which you don't need before applying for a new one. But closing a CC may take a couple of months to appear on your credit report as a closed/settled account...

OK, thanks for the feedback. I have to apply for the cc soon and so I guess I just have to hope for the best with the application.
