So we've had a look over the planning permission/building regs for the underpinning work carried out on the house we are hoping to buy.
House is a 1920s/30s semi. The whole side of the house and half of the front has been underpinned.
Any reason why they left the other half at the front of the property??? Surely if they had already dig down to the foundations, it would be better to do the whole lot??? If it makes a difference, the half they have left is the half adjoining the neighbours house.
Any structural engineers out there that can offer any advice? The fact that the house has been underpinned does not worry us (80% of the houses in the area have been, due to them being built on sandstone), it's merely the fact that if we buy, then will we have to in the near future underpin the remaining half at the front of the property.

Yes, next doors property has also been underpinned, although we do not know to what extent or how long ago...0
