Extended warranty?
My Peugeot 206 is 3 years old at the end of this month. I am just an average mileage user around 6-7k annually. My first MOT will be on the 10th of this month. I received a letter from Peugeot offering an extended warranty for £299. My question is do I need to have an extended warranty? Is it worth getting one?

I'll take it as a no. Nobody seems to have an extended warranty on their car.0

I used to have one. It wasn't worth it.
The only thing I ever tried to claim for was a radiator. THe main policy said it was covered but the small print excluded items that "came into contact with water".Can I help?0 -
Is that £299 for a year only & it might also include roadside assistance (AA or similar,) so not cheap but a 'reasonable' price.
http://www.warrantydirect.co.uk have similar pacages if you want to get some cover.
If you've been happy with the way your cars been running to date, I'd not bother with a warranty.

Thanks for all your replies guys. So it would be a No for me then than you.
Also I have recieved 2 letters from post yesterday one is service reminder and the other offering End of Warranty Inspection and MOT. What's the difference between the two and which one do I need?

They are just after your cash.
Use an independant mechanic for any future repairs, main dealers charge the earth and farm the jobs out to the yts boys on £3 per hour, stay well clear!!!0 -
Hi,
I was going to extend my warranty if I kept my 206. I would rather pay £25 a month than get a massive bill. My last warranty work on a Corsa cost £2100!!
I never ever claimed on my Peugeot warranty so I cannot comment on how good or bad there are. I have a 4 week old Ford Focus with different colour bumpers and I am having to claim already and its taking ages....
Best regards

206's are not known for being reliable, but only you know how reliable the car has been to date. If teh warranty is the same as teh manufacturers warranty the 299 is a good price. I guess the reality is could you afford to pay out £XXXX if it broke down next week?0

I know this is not strictly suitable, but I am a member of https://www.pug306.net. There are lots of guys on there though with 206's that used to have 306. Alot of Peugeot experts and mechanics on there as well.
One of the best forums out there, very friendly people who are always willing to help.
So if you did get stuck or broken down, you may get some extra help!
