system not working

Hello all,
just wanted to know if this has worked for anyone else.
On income based JSA and getting CTC for 3 kids hubby not working. I get a job paying £6 hr for 16hrs a week. Told JCP will be on induction for 4 weeks after that I will be told if i hve got the job for good. Well 4 weeks are up and i have been given the job. Infromed JCP i want to close my claim and sign off. I was told I need to do noting else re tax cridits as JCP will infrom hmrc that i am signed off and should be put on WTC. JCP did not even ask my paye number or how much I will be paid...
....anyway waited a few weeks and got no WTC. Called hmrc today and they have no info at all about me being signed off and working 16hrs at £6 per week. Informed them on the phone and hopfully will now start to get WTC.
It seems this in out work process does not work. It also seems JCP do not talk to TCO as they thought I was still siging on.
Anyone know if this is a one off or do you always have to tell each gov body your self, i know JCP do tell the HB people as this part was done OK.
Thanks

No you have to inform tax credits of your new situation. You need to tell them yourself about all change of circumstances as soon as they happen!0

Did you claim the 4 week roll on ? it is to help you when you go back to work after being on benefits.0

Thank you all for your support
OK I can confrim TCO do infrom JCP and this is what has happend now....
Told JCP 4 weeks ago I have found a job working 16hrs a week but will only be given the job after a 4 week induction only if i pass, will i be made permentant. Asked do i sign off now or after 4 weeks, JCP fool told me only when you have the job and start work of 30hrs or more (i sure this should be 16hr, the advisor must have got confused with TC).
Anyway keep signing on for 4 weeks and then after 4 weeks infrom JCP i have now got my job and want to sign off. This advisor does not even ask how meny hours, just gets me to sign the date I want my case to close. The day before I sign off i tell the TCO about my work and it started 4 weeks ago and should now be permenant. TCO approve WTC and all seems well. So back to JCP and during the sign off process I am told if you wait 5mins we can tell you what your last payment will be. I am then shown on there screen the final payment will be £25 and not the £100.95 per week i was on and due. Advisor checks with the people who sort out the claim and is told that due to a overpayment this is all that is due. It seems the TCO had updated there system and the JCP system with the start work date of 4 weeks ago, which is right. I have been over paid 4 weeks JSA...I knew I should have asked the advisor to go and check he facts when he said i do not need to sign off yet..blind leanding the blind at JCP. To be fair the TCO have been spot on with everything i have told them and they seem to work very quickly.
So I agree I have been overpaid but know have a few qustions.
The way I see it if WTC starts from day one of work then say I get £70 WTC per week and I also get £100 JSA over payment a week for 4 weeks than as i have not got any wtc yet, I only owe some one 30x4=£120. JCP said my last payment would be £25 it should have been £150 so does this mean the overpayment had been paid back as thay have lowered my last payment and my WTC will now start to pay me next week with no back payment?
I was told I would get a job grant of £250 have I now lost this due to a mistake by, yes me but because of bad advise or as this is a grant this will be paid out side of tha last payment?
If i do owe JCP any more then how will this be paid as I am no longer on JSA. Can it be deducted from WTC?
Many thanks0 -
Are you getting paid for the 4 week induction? If so then yes you should of signed off and just started the claim for WTC. As you cant get paid, WTC and JSA all at same time.
No they wont take an overpayment from your WTC you will be asked to pay it direct to them every week till it is cleared.0 -
Thxs karenx, Yes the induction was paid min wage for 16hrs. Is it not right to say if I had any extra overpayment to pay then my last payment from JCP would be £0 but thay will still be paying me about £50 for the last 2 weeks and not the £200 I would have got I belive due to the over payment. Or is it thae case that by law thay have to give me a min amount hence the £50 for about 2 weeks.
Anyone got and commits on the job grant would I get this or is this being sucked up due to overpayments mistake made by JCP bad advise.0 -
I dont have a clue about the job grant situation, you owe them money they owe you money. Would make sense for them to work out who is due some of it. But on the other hand they might still pay you it to help you into work then ask you to pay it back weekly0

any one on any benefits no matter what, if you are concidering training or work you should consult your adviser at JCP for full benefits if it's not in place(in writing) when you start work course etc from my experience highly unlikely to get all you can claim.they will also make sure you won't be worse off
HB CTB you have to phone & ask to claim the roll on when you inform them you are starting / have started work I think you get a month to do this??0
