I know this sounds stupid but i got a delivery from Asda the thing is i typed in the 3 digit number on the back of my credit card got distracted by a phone cal came back but the details of my current account debit card into the relevant places and it accepted it. I got my delivery but now will have to check my statements. My credit card is an Asda one and my current account is hsbc bank.

I would have thought i would have got amessage saying wrong security number and rejected it but no.

Sorry title Asda on line card mistake

  • Might be a silly question, but have you checked the two numbers are different?
My (now expired) credit card had the same 3 digit number as my current account card, and I always had to double check for piece of mind when typing in.
It might just be that Asda are not checking all the details, especially as they know exactly where the goods are going! Why don't you give them a phone call and just say you need to check which card you paid with, and get them to confirm all the details.
I'm sure though, that the card you put the big long number in from (your bank card ) is the one you will be charged from. If you think about it there are only 1000 3 digit security numbers possible and millions of cards so there will be always be someone else with the same security code as you so they won't be charging based on the sec code.

    It's only a game

  • Just checked and it's a different number.Yeh i see your point about the 3 digit security code as you wrote in your third paragraph. I'll see what my statement says in a weeks time.

    Thanks.

I had this problem, i have 2 cards saved on there and I selected the newer one that I wanted to use (must add it's a totally different account)

Entered the 3 digits from the back of the new card but it still charged my older account.

Was a pain in the backside waking up and not being able to withdraw funds from the normal account. Was solved with a quick transfer but still... shouldn't have happened, especially as i entered the relevant security details.

i found out the hard way. if for any reason your asda card payment doesnt go through they still deliver and try to contact you for confirmation details.

I had this happen unfortunately no one called and i must admit i was a little surprised when i was banned from the website. I rang to find out the payment had not gone through and therefore they had banned me. :O
