Hi,
I'm just after a quick piece of advice please..

Late in 2008 we purchased the Dakota coffe table, media unit and bookcase from Next (along with over £2k of bedroom furniture).

The 2nd media unit we received (first one was damaged) had very slight discolourations on the top and side that at the time were mistaken for the natural grain. Over time this discolouration became worse and worse and approximately one year after purchase the marks had become very dark blotches caused I believe by damp.

Next sent out an independent 'furniture repair technician' who filed a report and listed the furniture as unrepairable.

Next called me just over a week ago and informed me of this. They also mentioned that they no longer stock the Dakota range so could offer either a full refund upon return of the unit, or an exchange for another item.

I informed the rep that we could not exchange it as we had matching items in the range, and that we did not want a full refund as we couldn't get a matching item and we needed something to put our sky box etc into!
The rep then mentioned that they will pass this onto another department who could offer a gesture of goodwill/discount on the item. This was over a week ago and i've phoned 3 times and not had an answer yet.

The advice I'm after is how much should I go for when we get around to discussing the discount they can offer? I have seen items marked as damaged/ex-display in Next with greater than 50% off. I paid £375 for the unit so what is a realistic amount that I should ask for?

Thanks for any advice.
