Free business credit card?

I've recently taken over the family business, we are reasonable size and turnover but dont have any form of company credit cards, thus we always end up using personal ones which is a pain in the backside.

Can anyone recommend a FREE credit card for businesses as i dont wish to continue using my personal ones, but equally dont wish to pay for the privelidge of a business card?

Abbey/Santander do free banking on their business accounts and you'll get a debit card to access the funds. Mixed views on their service levels, you deal with the ATM for deposits and withdrawals and the staff in-branch won't be able to help you with any queries. Least that's my experience of it.

Bank of scotaland dont appear to do credit cards for some reason.

We are aware of A&L but as we already have free banking there is no incentive to move, also i dont want a debit card, i want a business credit card.
  • Bank of Scotland is part of HBOS who certainly do issue credit cards.

What difference do you think there is between a personal credit card and business credit card? Liability for the debt may be with the family business if it's a Ltd company business card, but the potential for moneysaving rewards/cashback is non-existant.

HBOS have a "deferred debit" commercial card that gives you up to 38 days interest-free credit http://www.bankofscotlandbusiness.co.uk/managingyourbusiness/commercial_card.asp

If you're really wanting a company credit card and your current bank won't provide you with one, or don't offer an alternative that suits you then your only option is to open an account with another bank.

Free banking is important and saves us thousands so there is to be no moving of banks.

The business is a Ltd company, so there is no personal liability, and its not really that which is the issue, i simply dont wish to use my personal liabilities for the company, i have my own cards and a good credit rating and im not after money saving or cash back, just a card which is cahrge free for business purposes in the business name.

Can't recommend it from personal experience, but you might want to look at the MBNA range: http://www.mbna.co.uk/business/index.html

Most of the banks who do business banking offer credit cards. MBNA and Barclaycard seem to be the most prominent.

Your accountant should be able to advise you as to which is best for your company.

All sorted now thanks. Got a BOS commercial card, twised our relationship managers arm and had the fee waived.
