Item under warrenty - can it go back to shop?

I bought a lumie body clock alarm clock in Nov 2008 (£50 at boots). On friday at 2am it started making a whining noise.
I found the instructions and receipt . In the warrenty section it says it is under guareentee for 2 years. Can I return it to the shop I bought it from or would i have to send it back to the manufacturers?
thanks
Michelle

Michelle I would try Boots first, and if they can't help ring the Lumie helpline. I think they would probably send you packaging and arrange for collection of the product!Less is more0

Thanks, I thought I had posted on consumer rights forum. Serves me right for not checking which of the 400 tabs I was actually in! Moderators please move.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. if its in 2 years then as long as you have proof of purchase you should have no problems. proof of purchase is required otherwise they can turn round and say no.
Proof of purchase
1) reciept
2) copy of bank statement
3) Cheque stub

If using warranty then needs to go to manufacturer as they are the ones giving the warranty. If want to use SOGA instead, then go to Boots.
2 different paths, each party are only responsible for their own bit. Is a bit of crossover if you go to Boots and they tell you to go to manufacturer, if warranty turns out to be rubbish and you would rather try your options under SOGA, then can go back to Boots, but only if M not actually done anything AND Boots told you to go to M.Little lady arrived 13/12/110 -
M, as in M in the James Bond movies, as in Dame Judy Dench? Maybe she will get Q to fix it?0

Sounds like OP might get better help from M/Q!
I get used to using C (consumer), T (trader) and M (manufacturer) at work so it's just carried over!Little lady arrived 13/12/110
