I don't think AA on it's own will qualify anyone for pension credit. It won't be counted as income but surely if you didn't qualify for pension credit before then you wouldn't because you get AA

Actually if your partner already has middle or high rate dla care component and you are awarded attendance allownace you can qualify for guarantee pension credit due to being eligible for a double severe disability premium, which I think is about £105.70 a week - don't have my benefits rates sheet on hand, as long as no one else over 18 lives with the couple. This is on top of the personal allowance for guarantee pension credit. In addition, in the circumstances stated by glaswejen, if her gran had qualifed for attendance allowance, as their state pension amounts are higher than the weekly rate of carers allowance, they would both qualify for underlying entitlement of carers allowance which would amount to two carers premiums of £29.50 a week each.

Because of this if glaswejen's gran had had care needs an award of attendance allowance would have led to eligibility for guarantee pension credit - personal allowance plus double SDP plus double carers premium minus state pensions and industrial pensions. Savings credit would then be on top of this at the maximum couple rate.

Jesus, I think I'd better get gran to talk to her doctor about this, they were chuffed enough when I told them they might get a couple of quid off their council tax every month.
