gite in Northern France - any recommendations?

have decided to take a last minute break and would love to go back to France. the place we went last year is too far south and am looking for something ideally no more than a couple hours drive from say a French port towards maybe Brittany or Normandy. has any one got a recommendation? There's five of us.

  • hi - we came back a few weeks ago from a lovely gite near Avranches (Normandy). Quite close to Brittany. Great if you have kids like me, they loved the horseriding at the chateau next door and we got spoilt by the lovely beaches. We've had to promise the kids to go back later in the year! The couple that own the place did us a good late deal. Let me know if you are interested - will pass on their details.
  • We love the North Brittany coast, just east of St Malo (St Cast)- beautiful beaches and lots to do . Try https://www.cheznous.co.uk and https://www.holiday-rentals.co.uk . You can sail to St Malo (expensive),Caen or Cherbourg.
  • just another tip speed ferry dover boulonge is normally the cheapest crossing it about 50 min on board and if you book early fares can be as low as 19 pound each way for car and passengers

gites seem to be much cheaper through Gites de France; sometimes the same gite can be advertised there and somewhere like Chez nous but it'll be cheaper on the GdF site....I was caught out a couple of years ago!

I stayed in this place over Easter - it's very nice, the owners are very friendly, and it's a short drive to pretty much anywhere!!
