Need advice about cooked food left in kitchen overnight

Stupidly, I left a pan of beef & tomato stew on the hob overnight. The pan was covered, but I would normally fridge this as soon as it was cool.

Should I throw it out now?

Thanks

Personally I would put it in the fridge and eat it for dinner ensuring it was heated through properly.

    Enjoy!

If it were poultry or pork it would be best to bin it but beef based stew should be fine, be sure to put a lid on it when in the fridge though as there will be some level of bacteria in it that would contaminate other food in the fridge at a much faster rate than it would the stew.

Thanks for the opinions - I will eat it and let you know later if I'm still alive!!!!

Thanks also for the advice about bacteria/cross-contamination. I usually cover fridge food, but hadn't thought about it that way before!

Yeah that should be fine! Just fridge it and heat properly before eating.

Speaking of cross contamination, always put cooked meats at the top and raw meats at the bottom.

For anyone who doesn't know!! :o

If it doesn't smell off and hasn't turned green and there's no fungus on the top of it then eat it. y3.gif

Some people may remember a post of mine last year, I had made spag bolognese and left it on the hob uncovered in summertime.

The next day I couldn't resist eating some, I can't find the post now but some people were alarmed:D

    I'm still alive:j :j :j :j

The 'uncoverd' bit was probably the worst of it.
Before fridges people survived, the food quality was probably better then and wasn't 'messed around' with so much.
