BT cancelling appointment

My OH was due to meet a BT engineer at our new house to set up our line. She took the day off work and an hour before he was due, he called and cancelled. We were then contacted by customer services who said the nearest appointment would be two weeks later!
We are so fed up - just another show of shoddy service from a company. Now we have to wait up to four weeks for a net connection, as Tiscali can't transfer our line without a phone set up and Sky are due to come round tomorrow, and I'm sure they won't set up without a line, as it must be connected.

I guess there may not be much you can do - have you tried complaining to see what they can do - whether they can arrange a sooner appointment - tell them you are relying on this phone line!Weight Loss - 102lb0

Tell BT that you have someone who is elderly with one of these 'emergency cords' which plugs into the line. Not that it's likely to phase them very much. If you want their service you wait, and it's abundantly clear that you need them more than they need you.
Or perhaps not tell lies and leave the resources for people who actually have emergency cords and a genuine need for expediency.0 -
how are these guys lazy, friend works for BT and they do 12 hour shifts with all jobs allocated by computer automatically, no human intervention unless required and although he is meant only meant to cover the inner M25 area (huge area if you look at the map) and gets asked to go to Crawley and other areas
This work is now done on contract to the main BT by BTOpenreach which is an autonomous part of BT and does line installs and Broadband for ALL providers that use BT's network to reach your house and is closely monitored by OFCOM to make sure no bias is shown to BT's own units
I'd love you to tell him to his face that he is lazyEx forum ambassador

I had an appintment booked in January - they turned up a day early and instead of removing a redundant bracket as requested , removed my line as specifically not requested- I'm still trying to resolve this.0

Id send a letter of complaint, stating that 1hr cancellation is not good enough, if you'd cancelled the appointment 1hr before they would probably try to do dsummat clever like charge you for it. I would also tell that that your OH had to take the day of work & seek comp for this.MSE has changed me for the better!!DD1 arrived 15/5/11, ]:money:0
