hi everyone,i was wondering if anyone could give me some ideas please we are having my little girls party on the weekend at our local pub which is run by our friends. due to a few money probs at the mo we cant afford a entertainer so our other friends have offered to paint the childrens faces and one as said he will dress as the clown this is where the problems start. We have a costume for him but we have no idea what he is suppose to do besides acting silly:D anyone had a clown for a party before?

A friend had a clown at her wedding reception to entertain the children and he walked on stilts, and had an enormous bowl of bubbles and a big hoop for blowing BIG bubbles (great fun). He also spun plates on sticks, juggled, made balloon animals and cycled on a unicycle! Kept the children well entertained for a couple of hours!Less is more0

I always found clowns really scary as a kid! I think it's quite a common fear for children too, so make sure they still look relatively human.

The fact that a Google seach threw up 219,000+ 'hits' gives you an indication how common it can be.One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing
Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home0 -
thanks for your replies i will be careful how he looks because there will quite a age range there i think it will just be a outfit and rosy cheeks nothing to scary0

The main thing is for him to run around with the kids playing games - I did some work as a clown when I was a teenager and found it very tiring, especially with a mixed-age group. Make sure he has all the 'props' he needs for games like pass the parcel, tug of war etc. Also, loads of little goodies for 'prizes' are nice too. Don't feel that the kids need to be entertained the entire time though, as long as they are supervised they can play on their own for a while, and just get your clown to step in with a game or trick when it seems that they are getting bored.Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0

Frighten young children
Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
If hes unable to do tricks just organising party games should be enough such as pass the parcel, sleeping lions and musical chairs/statues. Ask if any of the other adults attending will help out.Sometimes i like to imagine that im living on the breadline as a single mum with 3 children to feed and clothe, bills to pay and very little time to myself........ then i wake up and realise im a princess with prince charming by my side and a lovely white castle........ oh wait

Please PLEASE check that any potential guests who woulds consider a clown visit their own personal version of hell are well informed in advance.
