  • Mental health has never been taken as seriously as physical health and this, i'm afraid, will remain to be the case for sometime.

As a psychologist, my experience suggests that you may be able to have payments adjusted or the time available to pay ammended in the case of a severe mental health condition that can be controlled with medication.

Depression is very difficult to prove as the symptoms are varied and often much milder and less destructive when compared to other mental health conditions. If permission was granted to wipe out these debts; much of the Uk population could appeal for similar action.

The only excemption regarding mental health & removal of debt would concern itself with a extremely severe mental health retardation following an accident and requiring permanent hospitalization...i'm sure the debts would be written off then.

Seek advice if you are unsure though, although i work within mental health, i am not professionally qualified in finanaces.

At which point the loan companies would refuse to lend to anyone that had shown symptoms or had a diagnosis of depression. I do not believe this would be at all positive.

I think you would need to prove, and supply evidence, that you were mentally incapable at the time, and that the loan provider knew this and 'took advantage' to sell a loan, regardless.

This generaly applies to those with learning disabilities.

I know a lot of people, with BP, who hold down jobs, mortgages etc., - I don't think you will succeed in a loan write-off with that.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)
