Bipolar disorder is a chemical inbalance in the brain and it is serious. It is NOT an excuse. It ruins lives.
I also work, have a family, run a business and am studying towards a degree. I pay my way in life and have never received any sort of benefit. I am however Bipolar. I struggle and to be honest it is all I can do to keep my head above water at the moment. The last thing this lady needs getting back to the point is people making her feel any worse about the situation.
Must be nice up there on your pedestal!
No pedestal here. Pleased to see that you`re not a money grabbing scrounger and wish you well.0 -
Is that the best you can do! Tosh
Its only because you are not allowed to swear - as I would add a few and share the sentiments moron.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I'm not allowed to swear or do you mean you are not allowed to swear? Get your English sorted out first before you attempt an insult.
What difference does ones English matter? I might be illiterate but at least I'm not an idiot.
The 'sort-your-speliing-out' line is one of my favourites though! It shows no originality but its still cool. If this is written in irony then I take it all back and you are fine to copy other people and you are right that medical names are made up.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Glad you understand irony. If the inclusion of a few F words would help you get your point across then go for it.0 -

Nothing like being totally oversensitive!
I'm waiting for my post to be reported now. *sigh*.0 -
As I recall there was an article in the daily mail a few weeks ago regarding the mother of an ex soldier who had a loan written off because he was in permanent care. Even then it was a battle. Anything short of that will make it virtually impossible to get anything written off.

Obviously, the only other explanation would be uninformed opinions and naive idiots using their lack of knowledge - somehow believing its factual (but surely thats couldnt be right?).Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Can I just ask that everyone is nice to each other in the first place? Mental health is a minefield and everyone reacts to it differently.
However in answer to the OP's question, you wont get your debt written off for having depression. I have had several loans and enforceable debts written off for clients but by proving that the debt was having such an adverse affect on their lives and they would never be in a position to repay (there were several other factors involved but I am not going to go into them here). Even then some of them will not pursue the debt but allow it to lie on file so it is not technically written off.
Proving that you are mentally incapable will open up a huge can of worms and being honest unless you can show that you showed reason for the loan company to believe that you had a mental illness and so were incapable of understanding what you were signing and the implications of the loan payments then you are on a losing wicket.
You need to seek proper financial help if you would like to take this further - I suggest that you look at my signature for sources of help.Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0
