My dad is looking to replace his video recorder. He lives in an area without freeview and doesn't have Sky. How much would he have to spend to get a half decent one of these? And can anyone recommend one?

How much to get a half decent VCR player? Hell I bet you could wangle one free somewhere.
Your Dad should look at getting a DVD / VHS player if he wants to watch his old VHS and still have technology for some newer films.
You could probably buy a VHS for around £5 if that.
Regarding a HDD / DVD recorder, I've got a VHS - DVD burner which cost me around £100 but it's a fairly decent spec. HDD / DVD burners I'd imagine you're looking around £60-70 for a good one.Owner of andrewhope.co.uk, hate cars and love them

I've been looking for a hdd dvd recorder and they seem to start at about £180. I beleive Argos do a video recorder for about £60.
If you go for a dvd recorder check in has an analogue tuner i'm not sure they all do.0 -
