where does limescale from hard water build up?

Some say its only where the hot water meets fresh air, shower heads, taps etc but im sure its everywhere, as years ago i remember taking out dads old copper tank from the airing cupboard and it weighed a tonne!! Bit worried as had all new pipes and combi boiler fitted 4 years ago into my flat, shower head and taps get covered in limescale within weeks and costantly need cleaning, are every one of my pipes likely to look the same? I have a scale inhibitor on my combi boiler but bit concerned about all the pipework in between
Thanks in advance

The boiler should have inhibitor in the CH circuit protecting radiators and pipes to them . . Some inhibitors are for life, others for just one year. Installers unfortunately sometimes skip putting inhibitor in the system. You can buy a kit to see whether the inhibitor needs topping up, see www.bes.co.uk part no 7583. Have a look thru this catalogue for cleansers and inhibitors. A cheaper way to test is to draw off some water from a rad into a jam jar and put in a couple of steel nails. See how long they take to rust.
Another way is to drain down existing system and refill adding sentinel X-100 ( or any of the other inhibitors on the market). You could put cleaner thru first (X-400) to be on the safe side.
Have you noticed any of the rads are hot at the top but cold at the bottom especially in the centre. This is a sign of sludging up.0
