Annual kWh

I'm just trying to work out what my annual kWh miht be - I'm new to this!
My quarterly gas bill was from 26 JAN to 9 June and kWh is 10518. That would make annual kWh 42072 if I am correct.
My electricity is from 13 JAN to 31 MAY and kWh is 1172. Annual kWh would be 4688 assuming I'm doing this right.
Can anyone tell me if this is correct? :T

well, it would help somewhat if you told us how you arrived at those figures, because as they are, they mean very little!0

You said in another thread that the bill on 26 Jan was based on an estimated reading, and it transpired that it was an underestimate. Therefore you used less than 10518 kWh from 26 Jan to 9 June.
It not possible to work out annual consumption from one period as your consumption in winter - particularly for gas - is higher. You need to get actual readings(not estimated) for a period of year.
In any case 26 Jan to 09 June is approx 4.5 months and not a quarter(3 months) so you can't multiply by 4 as you have done.0 -
26 Jan to 9 Jun = 131 days
So 10518kWh in 131 days gives an annual rate of 29306kWh (10518 x 365 / 131).
13 Jan to 31 May = 138 days
So 1172kWh in 138 days gives an annual rate of 3100kWh (1172 x 365 / 138).Stompa0 -
Cardew, two of my gas meter readings were estimates but the second bill of £95 was not and you were correct in saying that SG were simply getting back what we owed them. I just added up my estimated and actual kWh for the above time periods to get 10518.
Is this not how you do it? I simply have no idea.
And Stompa, thanks!0 -

Scroogie Boy,
This is from your other thread:Yeah, the readings for the first bill was an estimated reading at 5620 before that it was estimated on 26 JAN at 5421. 199 units used between 26 JAN - 17 MAY. Total gas used this period is 6414. This is the first bill of £165.
The second bill reading was taken on 9 JUNE by someone from SG at 5747 with 127 units used between 17 MAY - 9 JUNE. Total gas used for this period is 4104.
You have been billed for 10518kWh but you haven't used that many.
Your bill for the period 26 Jan to 17 May was based on an estimated reading on 26 Jan. We don't know what the reading was on 26 Jan but it was certainly considerably higher than 5421, which is why you had a big debt. This means that you cannot work out how many kWh you have used from 26 Jan but it will be considerably less than 10518kWh.
As said before you only use a little gas in the summer, compared to winter, so you can't work out your annual consumption from one period's bill.0 -

Our annual gas consumption is about 36000Kwh and electricity about 4400Kwh and we certainly don't have heating on all the time - far from it. I suppose it depends somewhat on the size of your house and the amount you have the heating on, but it could well be correct.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
