Hi - my mother bought a stairlift just over 12 months ago and it is due for it's first maintenance check. We have tried over the past 2 weeks to contact the comany [Caremore Stairlifts Ltd in West Yorkshire] but to no avail. All the numbers listed just ring out. The website is still going but we are now wondering whether the company has gone out of business. Does anyone know how I can check whether it has or not. I did ring Consumer Direct and they say according to their records it is still trading. Any ideas would great.

For future reference, that is the site you need, search the details and trading status of any limited liability company registered in the uk.

Also, if you dont know the company name (as in this case - there are several names that they could be under)

This site will search who registered the website name (ie what company) as registration on their database is a legal requirement for any domain i believe.

Gosh, someone is on the ball today lol ! Cannot thank you enough for all the research you've done about this, it is really appreciated and it looks like we shall just have to keep phoning and hope someone will eventually be there.

If you don't get any joy, then phone consumer direct again and tell them - they can request the local TS to go and see if there is a problem.
If they are a national company, then it is likely that TS will have a relationship with them anyway.
