House ins question for us/them

Currently we pay a house contents insurance to Saga (rented from housing association).
Soon we will be moving and will be tenant of a house owned by our daughter & husband.
It was our intention to continue household contents with Saga, and our daughter & husband would get a separate building insurance. It has been suggested we combine somehow. I doubt if Saga would allow them to do this as they are both in their 30's, so the alternative would be for us to move ins.company so that we are both under the same umbrella as it were.
That in itself creates much searching, but given that an ins. company is found to our liking, it brings with it all manner of what could be deemed as complications, ie our names are for contents and their names for building.
BUT, as an aside, am I right in thinking that is is the owner of the property that is required to take out house insurance building cover.

yes should be the owner who insures the bricks and mortar,my recomendation would be to try RIAS the specialise in insurance for over 50`s but not exclusively and i`ve found them quite cheap,we currently pay £220 a year for cover which includes 400k re-building as standard and a good deal on contents inc in that figure0

I understood it was the responsibility of the owner of a property to insure it, and if it's mortgaged then it's a requirement of the mortgage.
Contents can be insured (or not) by the occupier. I found that Age Concern Insurance Services are value for money......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
