Difference between 320D and M Sport
Comments
-
For a definitive list of differences go to the BMW site and look at the specifications, and use the configurator.
There are different versions of the 320D - ES, SE etc. Taking the SE as an example, outwardly the M sport has a different body kit, bigger, M sport alloys, twin alloy tail pipe, M sport steering wheel, probably sports suspension, amongst other things.0 -

Sports have sports bits: seats, steering wheel, gear knob, black headlining/sunvisors, dash inlay different colour, bigger wheels, lower profile tyres, external bits on bumpers, different tred steps etc etc... You loose the chrome external window trim in favor of some shiney black trim.0

All of them have indicators fitted as an optional extra.;)0

As mentioned above, the sports kit is mostly about the look of the car, you don't get any extra gadgets for the cash (that I can think of) and the engine/performance is the same. The sport will have 18" wheels, so tyres will be around £50 more each than the 17" you typically find on the ES/SE.
The sport suspension is much harder than the SE suspension - I find the SE more comfortable but it's down to personal choice.
The model to avoid is the ES at that has a very basic equipment level.

Watch out for these alloys, the 18" and 19" are notorious for cracking, and BMW shun responsibility.Mortgage free

Indeed, a big feature on BBC Watchdog site about them.
I think that BMW may have caved in to the bad publicity now, I am not 100% sure.0 -
The recent fuss was just about the 19" alloys - although I did have to replace two 18" on my car (one cracked, the other buckled) which I just put down to the state of our roads.

To clarify the 320D M Sport comes with 17" alloys as standard and if the OP is looking at older cars the 320D SE and below came with 16" wheels.0
