Norton 3-user query

Hi,
I have Norton installed on my pc (probably 2009), which doesn't expire until August. I've just been given the Norton 2010 product - it's a 3 user product and only one user has been used (yesterday). My question is this: When will the other 2 users expire, assuming they're not loaded onto a pc? Can I wait until August before installing on my pc and get a full 366 days from that point, or is the clock now running since a copy was registered yesterday? If the clock is already running then I'll install now, as the 2010 Norton interface seems a bit improved from my current version.

And no - I don't have any complaints with Norton whatsoever, so please- no suggestions about dumping it for xyz cos' it's better...;)

Many thanks.
Brian

Not Norton!! Dump it and install xyz, it's much better innit.

The 3 licenses will run together, you couldn't effectively have 3yrs worth of "protection" on a single machine

    Thanks for the reply.

The Norton will be on separate machines, not the same one - hence my query about installing it months apart.

I regard Norton as being a bit like Skoda - used to be cr*p but have now (finally) got their act together :)

Hi OP, I use Norton 2010, and yes the clock starts as soon as you install it on the first machine.
What you may not know is that if you are running a previous version of Norton you can upgrade to the latest for free, just log in to your Norton account, and run the update checker. You will then be running 2010 until your current licence runs out.

I PC 3 user NIS 2010 is around £22 at Amazon at the moment, if you were to buy it and keep it in a draw for 12 months or more it will still have a 12 month licence, and by the time you come to use it you would be able to update it to NIS 2012 or what ever is out at the time.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • What I would try and do is to contact Symantec either through their forums or online chat, and see if they will add the remaining days of your old subscription to your new one. They sometimes do this, so you will end up with 366 + x days remaining. Are the licences all going to be installed on the same computers i.e. are the 3 licences from last year being used on the same computers that the new 3 licences are going to be used on? If not, it might make it a bit more difficult.
