I have got a parking ticket. There are no signs either on the ground or on any of the lamp posts. However, there are dotted line bays marked out. The only indication that there are any restrictions in this area ( about a square mile) are at each entrance to it - easy to miss if you don't know they are there. This is hardly fair but - is it legal? The council won't cancel the ticket.

Yes. Glasgow has numerous areas like this, mainly to reduce street clutter but as you say, easy to miss. Hazards of city driving I guess. Streetview link gives and example of the sign, bay and no lines on the opposite side but no parking there!
