Should we try last minute booking?

Hey everyone, we are a family of seven and I would love to save some money on our October holiday this year. Myself, hubby and kids 17, 15, 13, 12 & 11 (I know at least two of the kids will be classed as adults)!
My question is, we would like somewhere warm that time of year and all inclusive or at least half board. What should we do? book early or wait and just go anywhere - what kind of savings can we expect and where best to find them please. Any help or tips would be much appreciated.
We went to Turkey last year through First Choice, excellent holiday but very expensive. Any where like Turkey, Tunisia, Cyprus or Egypt is fine, just need the warmth!!
Happy holidays x

Depends really. I would say that you will be lucky to get rooms together with you being such a large family. We are a family of six and have always had trouble, even booking in advance. Nobody caters for larger families, except for self-catering or villa's.
What is your budget, dates, airport?Starting weight 17st 4lb - weight now 15st 2lbs

Thanks for the reply Kaz,
A few years ago, it was a must that we had interconnecting rooms, but now, since the eldest two are 17 and (will be 16) its not vital so long as they are near ish!!
As for the airports, we try to get any of the southern ones such as Bournemouth, Exeter, Bristol and Cardiff but again, its not a necessity.
Budget wise, we spent £4800 last year but being a tightwad, I would like to save as much as is humanly possible lol!
Ooops and dates - we tend to go late September/October time.0 -
Ok, so a quick search has come up with Tunisia for £2000 for the lot of you, all inclusive from Bristol airport on 15th September with Thomas Cook, so a massive saving on last year!
You could get Egypt for around £3000, and Dominican for around £3700.
So definitely lots of choice.Starting weight 17st 4lb - weight now 15st 2lbs

lol yeah bit of a typo error there last year was £2800!!! ha ha but that is great! so, my next bit is, should we wait and try to get a better deal last minute or risk not finding anywhere at all?0

Personally, a deal in my opinion, is a price lower than you expected to pay, that you would be happy with paying. So if this is lower than you expected to pay and you are reasonably happy, I would book sooner rather than later. The problem with last minute bookings is they are usually available for a reason. The amount of times we were put in hotels that the brochures stated were not suitable for children were unbelievable. But that said, its a risk you take. Personally I would book something if I thought it was a bargain!Starting weight 17st 4lb - weight now 15st 2lbs
