Cheapest Phone line for 6 months

Hi,
I'm moving into rented accomodation for 6 months soon. The place has a phone line already which will be transferred to my name, but I need a second line too. Is it possible to get the second line from BT which will have a 12 month contract, thenpay a cancellation charge after 6 months?
It needs to be a land line as I will need voice and broadband, I looked into mobile broadband but that seems like it will be too expensive...
any thoughts?

Or you can get it through plusnet. They do a 30 day contract, and no fees to pay if you cancel. But a £49.99 installation charge upfront for installing the new line (cheaper than BT and they are a part of the same company). With BT they only seem to offer the 12 month contract if you pay £122.50 for the installation. Otherwise its an 18 month for a free installation and you have to pay for the remaining months of the contract, and make 10 chargable calls per month.0
