    Hi OP,

Do you use childcare vouchers for your DD. Dont know if you know but it is paid out befor you pay tax. If your OH paid for them it would reduce his tax bill and therefore his CSA liability as his net income would be lower (if on CSA 2).

This may mean by upping the amount of hours you get of childcare for the same money you could work a little more??? Maybe

Thankyou for this... i had never though of that. i had heard of teh vouchers but wasnt too sure how it would benefit us. the fact that I could save twice would be great. just did the calculator for the csa and it would reduce payments by approx £30 a month.:T

You should both be able to claim for the childcare vouchers, though in your case it probably won't be as much because they can't take you below the minimum wage.

Try looking up busy bees or similar and there's a phone number you can ring to see how much you could get in vouchers between you. The only thing is your employer has to be signed up with one of the voucher providers so you would both need to check.

Have you looked on the tax credits site to see how much you would get if you didn't work? Just a point of interest.

  • It won't help much, but if you have uniform provided and have to launder it yourself, there used to be an entitlement to a small amount of tax back. I don't know if it still exists. About five years ago, it was £50pa and you could get it backdated for six years, but previous amounts were smaller and you were taxed on this. My ex did this and as well as his £50 a year, which is added to your tax entitlement, he received about £88 for the back payment.

:) HOW do I claim the laundry on tax relief??? I can find the amounts on HMRC but not how to get it back ???? advice please kingfisherblue ?? !!! please:)

Check your Tax Code letter when it comes, my husband got his last week and wheres a uniform with logo. On his new Tax Code form it states 'Flat rate Job expenses' of £60. Its an agreed amount with the union and you dont have to be in a union to get this. I cant see what other expenses he would have to pay to do his job besides his uniform as he has a company van which he brings home, so no travel costs to him and a phone is provided also.

anyone know where the "start a new thread" button is? Or how to start a new thread?

(this site needs a serious design overhaul - I've been on here 15 minutes and resorted to typing this into random threads - the overall design is like sensory overload - it needs to be simplified to make it easier to use - rant over - any intructions on how to start a thread would be good)

Thanks for helping. Will ring sky and speak to them. i agree we dont need.

groceries is a tough one. this includes.....
£18 for the dog food for the month.
£40 for dd milk for the month. i buy these at either boots or sainsburys or tesco to collect the points. unless one place has an offer. did have £1 off vouchers for this stage but just ran out in this milk they have £1 off the next stage which i am collecting.
    £120 for 4 x £30 a week budgets.
£20 approx for nappies and wipes for the month. spens ages online hunting all supermarket sites to find out which one is teh east pence per nappy and who has the best deal on wipes. this month ahs been sainsburys , as 1/3 off all baby products.

as for nursery.... we have no. all my o/h family are down south and i dont have anyone to help. i cant work more as that would mean more nursery and it just cancels each other out.

im not being negative to your response. just have tried most things. admittedly not the sky yet , so i will !!!

Have you looked in to a childminder instead of a nursery, they're usually quite a bit cheaper and more flexible?
